SBArch 70M Painting Process Begins
The painting process of the 70-meter SBArch steel bridge has officially begun. This stage is more than just about aesthetics—it plays a crucial role in protecting the structure from corrosion and extreme weather conditions. It reflects PT Danusari Mitra Sejahtera’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that is not only mechanically strong but also resilient against environmental impacts over time.
In steel bridge construction, painting serves as the primary defense against rust, humidity, UV rays, and environmental chemicals. While steel is a durable and versatile material in civil engineering applications, it is highly susceptible to oxidation if left uncoated. Therefore, selecting the right type of paint and applying it properly is an essential part of the construction process.
The painting of the SBArch 70M bridge is not only to enhance its appearance. While color and finish do add to the visual impression, the chosen paint scheme is carefully designed for functional and technical reasons—such as visibility, surface heat control, and seamless integration with the bridge's surrounding environment.
Color selection is also based on safety standards and visibility from a distance. This is especially important for bridges located in high-traffic areas or low-light environments. Bright, contrasting colors help increase driver awareness and simplify regular inspection and maintenance routines.
PT Danusari Mitra Sejahtera applies high-grade industrial paint standards to this project. The painting process begins with surface preparation using sandblasting or similar abrasive techniques to remove rust, oil, and contaminants. A primer coating is then applied to provide the first layer of corrosion resistance.
This is followed by an intermediate coat that reinforces the protection and prepares the surface for the final top coat. The top coat determines the final color and provides resistance against sunlight, acid rain, and air pollution. Each layer's thickness is measured precisely using special instruments to ensure compliance with technical specifications and international standards.
High precision is a key value in this painting process, applied by both engineering and production teams. Each section of the bridge is carefully inspected to ensure even coating and the absence of any visual or structural defects. Regular quality checks are conducted by the QA/QC team to uphold standards.
Any negligence in the painting process could compromise the long-term performance of the bridge. That is why the painting is carried out in a controlled environment, following strict safety procedures and using certified paints with superior adhesion and durability.
Through the SBArch 70M project, PT Danusari Mitra Sejahtera once again reaffirms its commitment to building reliable and sustainable infrastructure. While the painting process is just one of many construction stages, it plays a vital role in ensuring structural longevity and user safety.
By taking a holistic approach—from design, fabrication, protection, to inspection—the company ensures that every project delivered can withstand environmental challenges and the test of time. The goal is not only to meet technical specifications but also to provide lasting visual and structural value.
The SBArch 70M bridge is a clear example of how modern construction technology aligns with rigorous quality management and environmental responsibility. The ongoing painting phase is a strategic move toward a final structure that is functional, safe, and visually compelling.
