Ultrasonic and Pull-Off Testing on 70-Meter SBArch Girder
PT Danusari Mitra Sejahtera reaffirms its commitment to structural steel quality by conducting a series of inspections on SBArch Girder components for a 70-meter span bridge project. Testing was carried out on two main structural segments, P.134S – P.134S and P.137N – P.138N, which refer to the placement of girders relative to the piers on the south (S) and north (N) ends. These codes are technical references for precise installation positions in the field.
One of the primary tests conducted was the Ultrasonic Test (UT), used to detect internal defects in welding joints. This method is essential to ensure there are no cracks, porosity, or other flaws that could compromise structural strength.
In addition, Pull-Off Tests were conducted on the painted surface using Rincon Paints coatings in RAL 5005 (Signal Blue) and RAL 3020 (Traffic Red). This test measures the adhesion strength of the paint layer to the steel surface. Results showed values exceeding the minimum standard, indicating excellent coating application quality.
The painting quality is critical not only for aesthetics but also as a corrosion protection system—especially for bridge structures exposed to outdoor environments. The two-color system also plays a role in visual safety and functional area identification within the girder structure.
These inspections are part of PT DMS’s rigorous quality control process before delivery to the project site. By ensuring that both internal structures and surface finishes meet technical standards, PT DMS guarantees the long-term durability and safety of every product shipped to national infrastructure projects.
